Boys are born as the most emotionally expressive human beings on Earth. Before the age of five, theyFeel everything fully and show it completely—the joy, the love, the hurt, the wonder. They arrive in this world tender, open, and completely unafraid of their own feeling, and then it is hardened out of them with the accumulated weight of a culture that demands something specific from its men - And, systematically and deliberately, took everything else away.

The cost of that is everywhere.

Women felt it in the men they loved. Children feel it in the fathers who cannot reach them. The world feels it in the men who never learn to know themselves and who pass that cost on to everyone around them.
